Atelier Novak
Editorial pacing, generous whitespace and photography that gets out of the way. The site behaves like the buildings: quiet, precise, considered.
Where they started.
A respected studio whose portfolio lived in a 40 MB PDF. Journalists and clients had to ask for it by email — and the first impression was a download dialog.
The concept.
A dark, editorial site with a filterable project index, a press kit that downloads in one click and an enquiry form that asks the two questions the studio actually needs answered first.
The reasoning.
Architects sell judgement. Restraint in the interface — one typeface, one accent, big images — signals that same judgement before a single drawing is shown.
- Project indexFilter by type and year; each project gets its own page with plans, photos and credits.
- Press kitLogo, bios and selected images packaged for journalists — no more email requests.
- Enquiry formProject type, timeline, budget range. Goes straight to the partners' inbox.
- Performance targetImage-heavy, still fast: AVIF/WebP, lazy loading, no layout shift.
